Reznor HVAC History: Over 100 Years of Reliable Heating

Reznor has been part of the heating world for well over a century. The company started in 1888 when George Reznor set out in Pennsylvania to improve everyday comfort and safety. What began with gas lighting eventually shifted toward heating, and before long, Reznor became known for its rugged unit heaters. These were the workhorses of factories, warehouses, and garages—built to keep big spaces warm through the coldest months.

As time went on, Reznor kept adapting, moving from oil and gas-fired units to more efficient heating systems that met modern needs. For many in the trade, the sight of a Reznor heater hanging in a shop or service bay is a familiar one. Today, under Nortek Global HVAC, the brand still carries its reputation for dependable heat and a long legacy of keeping workplaces comfortable.

From their first style Reznor emblem (Fig. A) we see what the original space heaters they used and the emblem that accompanied them. In both (Fig. B) and (Fig. C) we see the transition from that old early 1900’s space heater emblem replaced with that style emblem which was prevalent up until 1960. From the 60’s onward, (Fig. D) was what had been namesake of the company till their merger to Nortek.
