Torridheet was a furnace and boiler brand based in Cleveland, Ohio, known for producing oil-fired and natural gas heating systems during 1923 to mid-20th century. It operated as part of the Cleveland Steel Products Corporation and offered a range of equipment like furnaces and boilers. One of their standout products was the Model F Wall Flame Oil Burner with a unique “Nu-Ropeller” design, which reflected the company’s push for innovation and sleek marketing. Their equipment was built for residential and light commercial use, and vintage ads and brochures from the time show a focus on reliable oil heat for American homes.
By the 1960s, the Torridheet name started to disappear after going through corporate changes—first merging with a company called Fluid Heat and later becoming part of Anchor-Post Products, Inc., another Cleveland-area firm. While the brand itself is long gone, its legacy survives in historical collections like those of the hvachistory.com museum, and in old homes still using the equipment. Technicians who work on old equipment will occasionally come across Torridheet units in basements or online forums, reminiscing about equipment from a bygone era.
Coming down to the advertising of the brand, came the two emblems most typically found on their equipment and a clock given to dealers of their products. (Fig. A), (Fig. B) and (Fig. C). Below that (Fig. D) is what was found on their boilers and (Fig. E) was one of many brochures used to showcase the innovation their products had in line with the market.
